FD sailors and friends are invited to celebrate the vision of the founders of the FD in creating a boat that has been at the forefront of international sailing for 50 years.

Current members of the FD Class pay tribute to the thousands of people in all parts of the world who have during the last 50+ years used their time energy and thoughts to refine and develop what remains the most challenging two man high performance dinghy in the world.

Warm thanks also go to the countless thousands of volunteers in over 60 countries who have supported the FD Class and who have organised and run regattas for FD sailors.

Special thanks to all the sailing clubs around the world which have promoted and supported FD regattas.

The Dutch FD Class are organising a 50th anniversary regatta as part of the Conrad Gulcher memorial Regatta at the birthplace of the FD at Loosdrecht in Holland.

All FD sailors past and present are invited to attend.

[Conrad Gulcher conceived the FD in 1951 and obtained ideas from the leading international sailors for its design (see FD history for more details). Conrad then worked tirelessly as the International Secretary until the end of 1988 shortly before he died]
