INTERNATIONAL FLYING DUTCHMAN CLASS BALA SAILING CLUB 28/30 May 2005 With winds from 0 - 30+ knots it would be difficult to find a more extreme range of conditions in three days than those experienced by the FD visitors to Bala this weekend. Having not sailed on Saturday, it was with much relief that Sunday dawned with a significantly reduced breeze. However this proved to be equally testing with big shifts catching out everyone in the fleet during the day. Toby/ Jamie won all three races however the score line belies the closeness of the racing. Julian/ Corin, Tony/ Colin and Peter/ Richard all pressed hard throughout the day and many place changes occurred before the final places were decided. Monday was even lighter and a postponement meant that only one race was possible before the cut off for racing was reached. The fleet was bolstered by the arrival of Strangler and Alex who promptly won the near drift from Tony/ Colin. Julian/ Corin, Peter/ Richard and Toby/ Jamie had a nail biting finish for third, finishing in that order with less than 10 seconds between them. Our thanks go to Bala SC for a great event in very difficult conditions we hope to be back soon. Results
