Sailboat 1999

	Banks Sails sponsored the FD stand at Sailboat - 5/6 March 2000 at Alexandra Palace. A 1998 Mader, similar to the 1999 exhibit seen in photo above but different colour! was on display.
	Yachts and Yachting who support Sailboat, have recently launched their long awaited website providing links to all UK Classes and Clubs and opportunity for sailors to register.

This is the ninth FD UK Newsletter designed for the WWW. During the last month new material has been added to the website including - second hand boat list, Fixture List for 2000, more sailing escapades thanks to Julian and the results page links to more reports. FD European Championships
From 23 June to 1 July the Flying Dutchman European Championship and the Master World Championship (June, 23/24) will take place in Rio Marina (Centro Velico Elbano). Main local winds are south-east wind and north-west wind. Official opening ceremony: June, 25. FD Races (7): from Monday, 26 to Saturday, 1. FD Masters Championship
This event will be held at the European Championship venue on 23-25 June - 4 races.  Contents

Welsh wizards win Oxford Tankards
Julian & Cathy Bridges sailed consistently well and with a 2,2,1 just prevented Peter Doran & Richard Phillips from retaining the Oxford Tankards for a third year by beating them by two boat lengths in the third and final race.

Travellers Trophy Format 2000
After considerable discussion the Format for the Travellers Trophy has been changed for 2000 so that a high score points system is used, all 7 of the main UK FD events will qualify, the position in the event determines the score and highest 4 scores of the 7 will count. Crewing opportunities
FD sailors from outside Europe are planning to viosit Europe in 2000 and are looking for crews - particularly for the main European events including the European Championship. We also have a request to charter an FD inm Europe. Please contact Webmaster for more details. Contents

The Dinghy Show Edition produced by Hugh Myers and published by John Best has been circulated to British Section members and includes a magnificent colour photo on front cover, report of part 2 of the Nationals, details of carbon mast being tested by JB, the new format for the Travellers Trophy, Fixture list for 2000, a Second Hand Boat list and contact information for IFDCO British Section Members. E-Mail List - IFDCO has set up an e-mail list. (see IFDCO website to register).
Young Sailors Travel Grant - Following the success of the grant in 1999 the first 10 Junior sailors to register for Worlds 2000 are offered a travel grant by IFDCO.
New IFDCO President - Ian McCrossin (AUS) President of IFDCO since 1994, hands over the Presidency to Alberto Barenghi (ITA) at the 2000 Europeans in Elba.
Advertising
The Advertising rules are under review by ISAF and category B is to be abolished. IFDCO plans to register as Category C but with the same restrictions as currenly apply.
Change to Class Rules
Digital compasses and carbon booms and spinnaker poles are allowed with effect from 1 March 2000.
