Travellers Trophy
The final results for the Travellers Trophy 2001 are here. The first event for the 2002 Travellers Trophy is the 2001 Midland Area Championship (see results). There are some changes to the Travellers Trophy rules to increase participation  (see article). Main change is introduction of secondary events. 3 FDs to an event nominated by you, one must travel and email the Coordinator at least 30 days in advance of the event with details of the event. Contents

Midland Area Championships
Light winds on Saturday only allowed one lap of one race to be completed. Sunday morning was very foggy with no wind, By 1.00pm the fog had cleared and a breeze began which built to allow two exciting races. However, despite a convincing win in the third race, this was not enough for David Wilkins to retain his title as John Best had won the first two races. Third overall were Richard Phillips & Peter Doran and on equal points in fourth was Julian Bridges crewed on Saturday by Cathy Bridges and on Sunday by Cathy Goodwin. Full results Contents

AGM & Dinner
The AGM was held on Saturday 13 October 2001 at Rutland Sailing Club. Peter Doran was congratulated on becoming IFDCO General Secretary and thanked for his dedicated work as the Hon Secretary of the British Section. Tony Lyall is now Hon Secretary and Membership secretary and continues to maintain the boat register. Julian Bridges joined the committe. The accounts were approved. It is hoped that all FD owners will join the Class in 2002 for the 50th anniversary celebrations. Contents

Following the AGM the annual dinner was held in the refurbished Rutland Sailing Club dinning area hosted by David & Gill Wilkins who have tirelessly organised and hosted the Midland Area Championships and dinner each year since 1983. John Barker who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, spoke about how the FD had changed his life and that of Peter Doran who used to sail with him. Peter Doran & Richard Phillips were presented with the Travellers Trophy and all drank toast to the future of the FD Class.
