FD clan gathered at Oxford - 11/12 April 1998 The meal on Saturday evening was of excellent quality and great value providing additional ballast for the gusty conditions on Sunday. Congratulations to John Barker, Peter Doran and Oxford Sailing Club for organising a first class weekend. Julian & Cathy Bridges sailed two excellent races finishing second overall. Peter Daigneault helmed by Stuart Goodes, a leading UK youth sailor, was electric in the last race finishing close astern of Peter Doran and Richard Phillips who won all three races. Contents New FDs in UK Sailboat 98 Yachts & Yachting gave the FD a good write up and congratulated the Class on its quality of informative documentation about future events. for Diary 9/10 May 1998 - A weekend of training involving, presentations by Hugh Myers and John Best and a series of on water race training exercises will be held at Grafham Water. Yachts & Yachting reviews FD Sailing conditions were ideal force 3, small waves on the Solent, tide on the turn and occaisionally the sun attempted to shine! Debbie Myers took Sarah Pye, the photographer, out in the rescue boat. Sue took to the water with James Cole in for a test sail Biggles gets a life. To provide a comparison JB and Richard Phillips sailed JBs older Mader. Sue (an experienced B14 sailor) provided excellent competition and was invited to sail in the UK FD Nationals in Weymouth. Stephen Parry put in brief appearances after sailing was finished; Gordon Kingston provided pre-sail encouragement. A great morning was had by all rounded off with lunch at the Ship where Hugh Myers found the team looking at the morning's photos, prior to Sue heading back to Essex to write a report for Y&Y (we hope).
