News on Worlds
A growing number of enquiries are being received from overseas FD sailors
planning to attend the Worlds at Lee. There may be up to 9 teams from USA and 4 from
Australia. Anybody wanting to buy a new FD for the Worlds should look at the IFDCO News
page re the Australian FDs.
Several further entries are expected from the continent now that the news is spreading
that it is easy and not very expensive to cross the Channel using the special
concessionary fares and that the tides at Lee in the race area are not very strong.
Brits go to Ammersee
Tony Lyall put his new double trailer from Harbec to the test and with Colin
Burns , Andy Moss and Richard Phillips in a sturdy VW Passat with a 1.9litre diesel engine
set off to catch the midnight ferry at Dover and on arrival in Ammersee in the afternoon
were greeted with open arms by the members of the very impressive Diessner Sailing Club. 5
races were held in challenging conditions light winds..very variable in both strength and
direction, no prizes for the Brits but lots of hospitality and offers to tow boats around
the continent so that the teams could return for other regattas. |
