Good winds - sunshine – great racing – excellent social

The gusty and unstable north easterly force 4-5 on Saturday were very challening and force 2-3 on Sunday provided much excitement, close racing and many place changes.

After a capsize on the way to the start to the first race Peter & Richard found only Strang & Alex at the start line. Two FDs had returned ashore and 2 decided the conditions were much too challenging for the first race of the year!.

Alex & Strang led from the start and were not to be caught! Race 2 proved to be a much closer race -  Strang & Alex won.

A great social was had in the evening at a pub in Oxford.

Sunday morning saw a much reduced wind and Peter Doran was unfit to sail so after some negotiations Neil helmed 382 with Richard and Jamie sailed with Rosie.

In the race before lunch, Strang & Alex were challenged hard by Neil & Richard, with Keith & John edging ahead for a short while during a foul up with the spinnaker. Rosie & Jamie had some teething problems but managed to finish the race.

Strang & Alex sailed in the last race with 3 firsts and overall victory assured gave Neil & Richard a very close race with many place changes.

Many thanks to John Barker Race Officer and to Peter Doran for organising the event and dealing with prize giving at which each team was awarded a prize.
