Cle Jeltes dies 03 July 2010
He devoted his life to a wonderful boat, the Flying Dutchman. He was the technical mastermind and he travelled around the world, wherever the FD Sailed, wherever we sailed. He always remains sailing with us in our minds Cle Jeltes has reached the top mark, but he always remains with us.
On behalf of us all, thanks Cle.
Organization Dutch Flying Dutchman Class
Our honorary Knight of the Order of Orange Nassau, Cle Jeltes is Saturday at a stroke deceased.
It goes without saying the importance of the strong commitment of Cle been for the survival and development of the Flying Dutchman, in the Netherlands and worldwide. For the people who knew Clé in all his glory, the picture is clear, for those not experienced: Clé was someone with an immense knowledge and drive on the entire FD he has made - as the text above indicates - a success of his life's work as the Chief Measurer and various administrative positions. One would say "above and beyond one's duty" in time spent on the Flying Dutchman Class. Besides the Royal decoration is also on the Cle NFDO received an award: The Gamesmanship Trophy, which can still be seen in the clubhouse of the KNWVL at Loosdrecht. People don't get respect automatically, in the case of Clé is was simply impossible not to show him respect. His determination was typical, strict but fair. Despite the fact that he was no longer active for the FD Class during the last couple of years, some people will certainly miss him! Clé will be cremated at " Den en Rust" Hals Avenue 7, 3723 EA in Bilthoven at 10:30.

![]() Close racing at the recent Southern Area Chanpionships our highest turnout for an event for sometime keep it up!. Photo Dawn Barsley-Dale Sail an FD? Not me I'm too small, Well not now! The modern FD has a carbon mast easily tuned to crew weight and with a raking rig controlling the awesome power of the FD it can be sailed by almost anybody. Its renowned upwind speed and exquisite hull shape lifts the FD on to a plane very easily. Combine this with the superb downwind capability makes this modern classic the Queen of the monohulls.
