Notice of Race Whitstable Yacht Club 3 – 4 Sea Wall, Whitstable, Kent International Flying Dutchman British Open Championship and National Championship June 1st – 3rd 2002 Whitstable Yacht Club and the International Flying Dutchman Class Organisation British Section have hereby pleasure in inviting all Flying Dutchman sailors to participate in the International Flying Dutchman British Open and National Championships to be held at Whitstable Yacht Club from June 1st to June 3rd 2002. Rules The Championships will be governed by: ISAF Racing Rules 2001-2004 The Notice of Race The Sailing Instructions and Communications by the Race Committee IFDCO Class Rules The Sailing Instructions will prevail in the event of a conflict. Rule 113 (limitation of equipment) will apply. Event Category The Championships are designated as Category B events in accordance with ISAF Racing Rules Appendix G4. Eligibility All Competitors must be currently paid up members of IFDCO and of a Sailing Club affiliated to a National Authority. Entry Fee Entry Fee: £50.00 Entries must be made on official entry form. Entries will be accepted until Registration closes. Registration Registration will take place Saturday 1st June 2002 between 10.30 and 11.30 Measurement Measurement Certificates MUST be presented together with a current IFDCO membership card at Registration. Measurement spot checks may be carried out at any time during the Championships. Schedule of Races Five races are scheduled as follows: Race 1: 1st June. Race 1 will not start before 13.00hrs Race 2 & 3: 2nd June TBA Race 4 & 5: 3rd June TBA Scoring The Low Point System will be applied according to ISAF R R Appendix A. If fewer than three races are completed the Championships will be void. If four or five races are completed there will be one discard. If fewer than three boats start any race that race will be void.
Substitute Helmsman/Crew Only one replacement per boat will be allowed. Either helmsman or crew can be substituted before the first race, informing the Race Committee in case of emergency during the series, only after permission has been obtained from the Race Committee. Trophies British Open 5th race winner (Royal Lymington Shield) British National Championship - winner of the last race (The Beverley Wilson & Co Champagne Cup) Old Boat prize (Slotty Dawes Trophy) - (best placed wooden hull) Westwood Trophy - for first boat overall from Lee-on-the-Solent Other prizes Prizes will be awarded to 1st to 5th overall. The Prize giving will be held at Whitstable Yacht Club as soon as possible after racing on Monday June 3rd. Sailing Instructions Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. Liability All competitors shall have cover against third party liability of at least £500,000 and shall be able to produce written proof of this. Neither Whitstable Yacht Club nor IFDCO B S shall be liable for any loss damage death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/competitor, his or her skipper or crew, as a result of their taking part in a race or races. Moreover every owner/competitor warrants the suitability of his or her craft for the race or races. The provision of safety equipment and boats by Whitstable Yacht Club is neither a guarantee that assistance can be rendered to any competitor in need, nor acceptance of any responsibility for rescue of competitors. Further, in the event that assistance is rendered to any competitor, neither the Club nor the crew of such safety craft accepts liability for any loss, damage or injury to the competitor or the boat and its equipment. None of the above in any way limits the absolute responsibility of the owner/competitor for the safety of his or her crew and vessel.
