NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHOPS

6TH - 10TH AUGUST 2001

NOTICE OF RACE

Ullswater Yacht Club invites all members of the International Flying Dutchman Class Organisation to compete in this event. The event will be sailed on Lake Ullswater and will comprise a series of seven races set over five days.

 

TITLE

The event shall be called the National Championships and British Open Championships.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

The Helm and crew of any participating boat shall be members of the Flying Dutchman Class Organisation.

Completion of the Entry form, and have paid the appropriate entry fee

All competing boats to have 3rd Party Insurance cover to a minimum value of £2,000,000, proof of which will be required at registration prior to sailing. A valid Measurement Certificate will be required for the entered boat Boats may be inspected at any time during the event.

Rule 113 Equipment Limit will apply.

 

CATAGORY

The event is Category B RRS 79 Appendix G.

 

RACING

All races shall be governed by the current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004.the prescriptions of the Royal Yachting Association, the rules and the class concerned and the Sailing Instructions of Ullswater Yacht Club.

 

CHANGES TO RACING RULE 42.5

Exceptions-Read ;- 3 times - in place of once for each wave or gust of wind

 

REGISTRATION

Sailing Instructions and Entry forms will be available from the registration desk in the Clubhouse until 12 00 hr Monday 6th August 2001.

The Racing Fee will be £55-00

Postal entries will be accepted, and cheques made payable to Ullswater Yacht Club, but must be confirmed at the registration desk, prior to sailing.

All Helms must have signed the Declaration of compliance with the Racing Rules for this event.

 

SCORING SYSTEM

The Low points Scoring system Appendix A Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004 will apply.

The following discards will apply, 6-7 races 2 discards; 4-5 races 1 discard; Subject to Appendix A 1.3 (scores not discardable). Ties will be broken as laid down in Appendix A

 

COURSES

These will be Olympic Triangles where possible, although other courses may be set depending upon the wind conditions. One race will be an Island race. This will cover the length of the lake.

 

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of Ullswater Yacht Club, and will be in addition to any Trophies awarded by the Class Association. The prize giving will take place in the clubhouse at the dinner following the event.
