FD Open - Rutland May 2003

Keep the boat Flat!!

As demonstrated by Toby & James

Be on the line at the start, last boat gets all the dirty air, boat to leeward powers through and is soon in the lead by sailing boat flatter than windward boat.

Relaxing after race finished -  neither FD is flat, genoa leeches are tighter than mainsail leeches. mainsail leech too open on leading FD, crew of leading FD is trapezing too high.
Keep the boat level fore and aft in light winds - see the wake caused by transom digging in - crew should be forward of shrouds and helm in front of traveller.
Julian and Cathy - glad to be back
Rosie & Neil after finishing second and gaining 3rd overall
The victors stride away up the slipway having bagged their fourth first place.
