Dear competitor,

Within short time the Brita Water Filter World Championships Flying Dutchman 2009 will take place. 
On behalf of the organizing committee, we wish you the warmest welcome!
We are happy and proud that over 100 FD's, well over 18 countries (and 4 continents), will participate!

Herewith we want to inform you about the following matters:

• For those of you who did not yet have paid their entry fee:
  Please do so. It is quite simple: no pay, no play.
• There is no ATM at the venue, so please do your payment through (electronic/internet) banking.
• We hope that we can welcome as many wives, husbands, grand parents and (grand) children that possibly can join you.
• For those, who are NOT sailing: we arranged for every regatta day an extended social program.
• In regards to this social program, we need to know with how many (non participants) you will attend the World's.
  NOTICE: Please reply, mentioning age and other specific details.
• To give you an example of the social program for non sailors:
  - large ship available to experience start and finish for people who are interested to have a closer look at the regatta’s
  - numerous trips and activities for those who stay ashore
  - loads of activities for children
• For those who are competing: a daily attractive social program, with free drinks and small food after the races, is set up for you too.
• Please, bring your Micro Magic boat. We will organise a spectacular tournament, in which you can participate and which will be visited by many spectators.
• The restaurant from the Regatta Centre can provide you with: 
  - breakfast (buffet) at € 8,- (per day/per person)
  - luncheon packets at € 8,- (per day/per person)
  NOTICE: you need to reply for this service at latest before July 28th!
• There will be a FREE Championships Dinner for competitors, on Tuesday evening. If 'Non-Sailors' (wives, husbands, grand parents etc.) want to attend: the costs are € 22,50 per person.
  Children up to the age of 12 years old: € 9,-

Dear FD sailors,

Here is a litte update from Holland about the worlds:

Now the sailing season has just started in Europe we already have over 50 registrations!! With almost 4 months to go to the start of this event the Dutch sailors still believe to get over 100 FD's in Medemblik

What's new to let you know?

* Besides the socials after the sailing, there will be a day-program for the people who are not sailing. So the Worlds in Holland are not only fun for the ones who are sailing, but also for the girls and children. On the program are already a nice trip by a little boat through Medemblik and the typical Dutch countrysite. There will also be a very nice trip by an old steamtram to Hoorn and than back to Medemblik by a old-fashioned steamer with a saloon deck along the coast of lake IJsselmeer. I think a nice daytrip to Amsterdam or the beach will be possible too.
When you arrive it will be possible to register for the day-programs.

* In Medemblik there will be a fair during the worlds.

* We can offer all the participants very good facilities on the harbour: Besides a very large slibway and a lot of space for parking the boats, there is a grand cafe / restaurant on the harbour. There is also a shop with sailing gear on the regatta centre; Brasserie MED http://www.brasseriemed.nl/

* In Medemblik there are many restaurants etc. You can walk from the harbour in some minutes to the centre of Medemblik.

* Where to stay during the worlds??
- camping and campers can stay at the regatta centre for just a small fee
- there is a holiday park just a few minutes walking from the harbour: http://www.zuiderzee-recreatie.nl
- if you are looking for a hotel, appartment or a house to rent, ask the local tourist information to help you: http://www.vvvmedemblik.nl

* The weekend befor the worlds will start there is a preliminary FD-regatta (25+26 july). So this is a good oportunity for training on the regatta-venue and get into Worlds shape.
