The Australia Flying Dutchman
Class is excited to announce
the first Flying Dutchman boat has been built by the new Australian
builders, KS Marine. The boat was presented to the class at the
recent National championships in Paynesville.
This boat has been built
over 2 months using the latest materials. The hull, cockpit and deck are
built using a pvc sandwich construction and are vacuum bagged. This
combination of the latest marine materials and construction methods has
resulting in a lightweight, strong stiff boat. This has enabled the boats
to be built with minimal additional stiffening and has done away with many
of the bulkheads and stiffeners that were in previous boats. The main
strength is focused between the forestay and mast out to the shrouds and
back to the mainsheet block. This provides the boat with longitudinal
stiffness. Strengthening has also been added to provide structural support
in highly loaded areas. |
