1 To encourage maximum participation at FD events.

2 To enable FD sailors to judge their performance relative to other FD sailors.

SUMMARY OF RULES FOR 2006

Qualifying Events:  

                     World & Continental Championships

                     International Events (4 or more nations participating)

                      6 events nominated by each IFDCO recognised region/nation

                     (Each event must have min 3 races scheduled and 2 races sailed)

Scoring:        Regatta Factor (RF) 1 to 1.5; 2 for CC; 2.5 for WC

                     Separation Factor (SF) 1.6 for WC to 15 for 2 boat race

                     Quality Factor (QF) based on Top 50 in 2005 World Championship

Points =       (100*RF – (P-1)*SF)*QF     QF=(W+1275)/1275)

                     P= Position; W= Total Qs for boats competing in event

Best 6 Event Points to count

Guidance for National/Regional Class Associations


National/Regional secretaries should
:
a)
nominate the 6 events with the highest expected attendance for inclusion in the Dawes Trophy

b) list the nominated events (together with any international events) on their website

c) provide the IFDCO webmaster at
webmaster@sailfd.org  with the link to the relevant page on their website.

d) provide the Ranking list registrar with a copy of the overall results for each International and nominated event.

Notes
a)
Any event that attracts 4 nations may  be retrospectively included as an international event and a new nominated event can be included.

b) If any nominated event is poorly attended or does not qualify due to lack of races, then a different event may be included (up to a maximum of 6 events) so long as IFDCO is notified before 31 December of the year in question.

 

POINTS SYSTEM from 1 January 2006

World Cup points (WCP) are awarded to each helmsman that takes part in a qualifying event.

WCP = (100*RF – (P-1)*SF)*QF

where P is the position in the overall results for the event

RF - Regatta Factor Points for the first boat = (RF*100) are awarded based on the type of event or the number of starters

SF - Separation Factor
Points for subsequent boats are (P-1)*SF less than the first boat where P is the position in the overall results

QF - Quality Factor

The Quality factor is based on the results of the previous year's World Championship

QF = (W + 1275)/1275

W is total Q points of helmsmen taking part where winner of previous years World Championship has 50 Q points, 2nd - 49 Q points and 50th placed helm has 1 Q point
