PAST NEWS
revision of Class Rules (pdf file) submitted to ISAF for consideration
at the November 2003 ISAF conference. If approved these rules will come
into force on 1 March 2004.
The purpose of these revisions is to bring the FD class rules into line
with the ISAF Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) and ISAF Sail Measurement
Rules. There is no intention to change the measurements themselves only
the way they are measured.

The
submission to ISAF shows the changes
and the rationale. Cle and I took two days together to hammer these out.
The 2003 Worlds in Melbourne will be under the
old rules, although I will take the opportunity to measure both ways so we
can see that there is in fact no change to the equipment, just a change in
how we measure.

December 2003
ISAF did approve the 2004 class
rules subject to my going through them with Sebasien Edmunds. We spent an
afternoon together in Barcelona and agreed on a number of simplifications.
I have to incorporate these in a new version and then send them to Cle and
Sebastien for final editing. Any queries
regarding the proposed rule changes should be addressed to
