Subsidised Shipping Program for Sail Melbourne

International teams and class associations will be able to ship their boats to and from the Sail Melbourne 2004 International Regatta at a greatly reduced cost thanks to the sponsorship support of P&O Nedlloyd and Schenker Australia.

Through their generous support, Sail Melbourne hopes to significantly boost entry numbers for its ISAF Grade 1 Olympic & Invited Classes Regatta and the World Championships being held on Port Phillip this coming year for the Flying Dutchman and International 420 classes.

Planning is underway to land the containers in Melbourne early in December so overseas competitors have time for some training in Melbourne or to take part in the Sydney International Regatta.  Up to 20 containers are expected from ports in Great Britain, Europe, Asia and North America under this sponsorship arrangement.

Regatta Manager David Staley will be meeting officials from ISAF Member National Authorities in Cadiz during the World Sailing Championships to promote the opportunity and discuss logistical arrangements.

P&O Nedlloyd is one of the world's leading shipping lines and Schenker is one of the leading international providers of integrated logistics, providing support to trade and industries in the global exchange of goods.  Both are long time supporters of Yachting Australia.
