OVERVIEW OF ADMINISTRATION
OF IFDCO WEBSITE
The website is hosted by David
McCreary on his web server
www.boatsit.com which is sited in the USA and
holds the files for the International website and a number of National
websites. The class pays an annual fee to David McCreary for the use and
support of the web server. The IFDCO Hon Treasurer deals with the payment
of these annual fees.
The international webmaster is
Richard Phillips, who is based in the UK and who is also the webmaster for
the British section website. The other national websites are managed by
representatives of the national class in the national language and/or
English. This allows each nation to impose its own identity on the
national website as appropriate to their national sailing culture. There
are 16 national websites linked from the IFDCO website.
The International webmaster
deals with the administrative communications with David McCreary in
relation to the configuration and access rights to the website and liaises
with Network Solutions with whom the domain name is registered. In March
2003 the registration was renewed for 5 years at a cost of USD 95.
The International webmaster
liaises with national webmasters in relation to passwords for write access
to the website and any issues relating to the overall management of the
www.sailfd.org domain. He also is responsible
for the design and maintenance of the International website within the
criteria set by the IFDCO Executive Committee.
